Dating site pairs Americans fleeing a possible Trump presidency with single Canadians

Progressive Americans have always threatened to move to Canada, but a looming Trump presidency has made the stakes even higher.

A new dating website called Maple Match hopes to capitalize on that anxiety. Maple Match will pair Americans fleeing the country from a potential Trump presidency with sympathetic Canadians. Two humans, divided by country, united by hatred of Trump. Just imagine the story they'll tell their kids.

After last Tuesday's primary contests, the prospect of a Trump presidency -- once considered a joke by pundits and voters alike --suddenly became a bit more real for some Americans. With Ted Cruz and John Kasich suspending their campaigns, the real estate, reality television mogul became the only left in the race to receive the Republican nomination. While it was a trying time for many Americans, it was good news for Maple Match.

Maple Match CEO Joe Goldman told Global Newsthat the site saw a spike in traffic in sign-ups in recent days. Goldman told Global News that he hopes that site can inspire meaningful connections through providing, "opportunities for like-minded Canadians and Americans to build meaningful relationships and escape the unfathomable horror of [a] Trump presidency."

The site's slogan is, appropriately, "Make dating great again."

Which begs the question -- wait, when was dating great?

Goldman told Global News that the site has yet to make any matches, but he's confident in its success. The company is funded independently of any anti-Trump PACs.

Please, Maple Match, make dating great for once.
